Summer 2020

Monday July 6

Today’s challenges are so fun!!

Individual – jumping garbage cans (traditional Camp Stone pastime…watch the video)

Family – creative, themed family costume dress up!

Bunk – pre-lunch skit about Indoor World or Tochnit

Special Lightning Round Torah videos are up today for your listening/learning/being inspired and pleasure: Rabbi Riskin, the Rabbi in Efrat since the mid-80’s and Rabbi Binny Blau, the Rabbi of Greenroad Synagogue in Cleveland, honor us today with their Torah and words of appreciation, admiration and encouragement for this special online Summer experience -palooza!

Our morning show, Boker Tov Sugar Grove, interviewed Elisha Kelman, one of our 3 Roshei Moshava this Summer. Get to know him better! One of our favorite Canadians 😉

Today’s Chugim were super fun and engaging – cooking, olympics, Escape The Room, making paper airplanes (seriously hard ones!), guitar with Yakov Fleischmann, learning Sign Language, Art and more. Three hours of Chugim options each day. Check the schedule to see tomorrow’s choices.

Tochnit learning today was about the philosophies of Rav Yaakov Emden and Moses Mendelssohn as they relate to scientific research and secular studies.

Wait! Stop the presses (literally) THIS JUST IN!! Color War was just announced!! The chanichim can find face paint and other color war goodies and surprises in their care packages! Come join the games and fun!!

Teams עם סגולה  and יושבי תבל  will battle to see which is the more important role for the Jewish people  – our national identity and responsibilities or our universal ones. Hmmm…good question that we have been discussing in shiur each day, as we have talked about facing crises and challenges. Black and Red for Team Am Segulah and Blue and Yellow for Team Yoshvei Tevel. Each eidah was split and some bunks are on one team and some bunks are on the other.

Color War starts at 7:30 tonight!! First up…camp-wide Machane Trivia — Kahoot style. Your children will not want to miss this!! And you will enjoy it too! Lots of camp history and trivia – ki b’nafsheinu hu…

The chanichim from Eidah Daled will be running this online color war. Your 8th grade graduates will step up and lead the day!! There will be many many challenges and creative assignments. Please help us make this the best online Color War any camp has run!! Go, Team, Go!!  May the Best Team Win!!

About the Chanukah Raffle

Dear Camp Stone Community,

It is an incredible feeling to reconnect with everyone once again at the beginning of our 2021 camp season.

We are writing to you today, first and foremost, to express tremendous gratitude.

Hakarat HaTov, literally “recognizing the good”, is an important and fundamental principle in our community. We, at Camp Stone, want to express our Hakarat HaTov to everyone receiving this email for your unwavering support, especially this past summer. Whether you provided financial assistance through your donated tuition dollars, participated in Indoor World, or connected with the Camp Stone community in other ways, together we had an incredibly successful, albeit different, summer experience.

There is no substitute for being in Sugar Grove, Pennsylvania, and this summer, B’ezrat Hashem, we will be back at Camp Stone, in person, in full force.

To achieve that goal, we must continue to ensure the financial success of our home away from home that we all know and love so deeply. The logo on top, featuring the slogan “Stone. Forever.” also features a Ner Tamid, an “eternal flame.” The year 1969, etched into the logo, is the year camp was founded. Symbolically, the overall image represents the idea that Camp Stone began many years ago and must endure forever, always burning brightly, and always an integral part of our collective conscience.

On that note, we are excited to announce that our annual Chanukah Campaign will be a raffle taking place over all 8 nights of Chanukah with prizes for both campers and parents/alumni!!

Please go back to the web page  to purchase raffle tickets and help us achieve 100% participation from our entire camp community!

Looking forward to being in touch with all of you in the near future.

Sincerely,

Yakov & Estee, Co-Directors
