Wednesday July 3
Today we spent half a day at the chutz and half a day back at machane.
Shacharit, breakfast and shiur was out at the chutz, followed by extensive clean up! Everyone packed up their stuff and picked up garbage. Together we closed down the chutz for summer 2024 session 1! We walked back to camp, and had shower time before lunch, mincha and menucha. By the early afternoon we were ready to enjoy our peulot at camp 🙂 Early dinner and maariv was followed by our very beloved Erev Shira! Our Rosh Music, Dvir, did a great job involving musiscians from our staff. We sang classic songs and more modern favorites….and then got into bed early…. We need some good sleep to make up for sleeping bags on the ground.
Tzevet had a chavruta-fest limmud (which they have weekly) and then were given time to sit with Rachaelli Frankel and hear her personal retelling of the events of June and July 2014, when her son Naftali and two other fellow high schoolers were kidnapped and went missing for three weeks until their bodies were found. Again, as stated earlier, Rabbanit Rachaelli is a pillar of positivity, gratitude and emunah. Although the Frankel’s story is a trajedy and hard to hear, we left feeling inspired and strengthened. It was unforgettable.
Machal spent today at the Holocaust museum in DC and then went to the Washington memorial. Next stop: Hershey park!!
(Note from blogger: We will be switching bloggers for a week, as my son Asher – who spent 20 summers in Camp Stone had a baby girl today! Mazal Tov! We will find a sub for a few days while my husband and I travel back to Israel to meet our granddaughter and be with the new parents. Stay tuned for Week #3 from Moshevet Rishonim)
