Wed Aug 12 – Color War Day 2

DATE: August 13, 2026

The second day of color war was intense – our chanichim were in it to win it!

Shiur on color war focuses on the team names. So while yesterday’s shiur focused on team Navi, today’s shiur was about team Kohen. The campers learned about the roles kohanim played besides priests in the Mikdash. They taught Torah and tried to increase peace among Am Yisrael.

Our schedule, on the second day, included sports activities and swimming races, just like the first day, but then in the afternoon we had a huge camp-wide Chidon in the Indoor Beit Knesset. The questions came from this month’s morning shiurim topics as well as some general Jewish questions. Towards the evening everyone participated in a 90-minute Apache Race that had 44 elements, requiring the help of over 80 individuals total. Usually 1 or 2 chanichim were needed at any given stop/task, like someone to shoot 3 arrows at archery or someone to go across the agam on the zipline, but sometimes a few were needed, like for example 5 chanichim threw a football among each other from the basketball court to the pool. And then sometimes the whole team was needed – to sing this session’s song or to join a water brigade.  Every part of camp was used – each field, archery, the agam, the pool, the ropes course…each team tried its hardest to get to the end first, but it was Team Navi who made it, with their baton, to the finish line with the win!

After dinner, we all went to Final Presentations in Indoor World. Each team presented a boys’ rikud, a girls’ glow dance, a team song, a daglanut (flag dance) and the following painted projects: a shelet (team sign on wood), a mechitza, a mincha-maariv sheet holder, an adirondack chair and a garbage can. It took two hours to get through all of the presentations, and then we had to wait a little while, as they finished calculating points to declare the winner… Finally they were ready to declare the winner…and they told us….. it was…. Team…. Kohen! Congrats to all of our Eidah Daled captains and their hadracha (who were a huge source of support) and to all the creative and artistic song-writers, painters and choreographers among the campers and staff who did a great job with all the elements of the teams’ final presentations.

After two very busy and packed days, we are looking forward to returning to our regularly scheduled programming tomorrow 🙂 We heard there is late wake-up! Woo hoo!

Machal had a day in Maryland, hiking a trail that took them to a waterfall. Now, onwards to Hershey, PA!

About the Chanukah Raffle

Dear Camp Stone Community,

It is an incredible feeling to reconnect with everyone once again at the beginning of our 2021 camp season.

We are writing to you today, first and foremost, to express tremendous gratitude.

Hakarat HaTov, literally “recognizing the good”, is an important and fundamental principle in our community. We, at Camp Stone, want to express our Hakarat HaTov to everyone receiving this email for your unwavering support, especially this past summer. Whether you provided financial assistance through your donated tuition dollars, participated in Indoor World, or connected with the Camp Stone community in other ways, together we had an incredibly successful, albeit different, summer experience.

There is no substitute for being in Sugar Grove, Pennsylvania, and this summer, B’ezrat Hashem, we will be back at Camp Stone, in person, in full force.

To achieve that goal, we must continue to ensure the financial success of our home away from home that we all know and love so deeply. The logo on top, featuring the slogan “Stone. Forever.” also features a Ner Tamid, an “eternal flame.” The year 1969, etched into the logo, is the year camp was founded. Symbolically, the overall image represents the idea that Camp Stone began many years ago and must endure forever, always burning brightly, and always an integral part of our collective conscience.

On that note, we are excited to announce that our annual Chanukah Campaign will be a raffle taking place over all 8 nights of Chanukah with prizes for both campers and parents/alumni!!

Please go back to the web page  to purchase raffle tickets and help us achieve 100% participation from our entire camp community!

Looking forward to being in touch with all of you in the near future.

Sincerely,

Yakov & Estee, Co-Directors
