We woke up at the Chutz site, davened Shacharit, ate some breakfast and then had shiur. The shiur, once again, presented 5 stations and the eidot rotated around to each of them. At each station the chanichim learned about one of 5 chapters of Tehillim that David Hamelech wrote. The chapters chosen were ones written with a heading/title explaining the context in which it was written, so the skit was about that day and what happened – for example, when David sinned with Batsheva and Natan haNavi came to try and get him to admit and show regret. Or the time Shaul was chasing him and he was hiding in a cave. Real action and drama – and then the poet in him wrote a beautiful poem. All actors were from our Beit Midrash staff plus a few other members of tzevet who “got the role”!

After morning shiur, everyone cleaned up, packed up and hiked back to Machane right in time for lunch. Eidah Daled stayed to do more cleaning and general packing up, and then they ate lunch there, at the chutz site. All in all, Eidah Daled, our oldest chanichim and chanichot, did a wonderful job running the plugot at the chutz, giving everyone food and making all ages feel welcome and cared for. Their Roshei Eidah were so proud of them. The beginning of a chanich/a’s leadership opportunity at Camp Stone starts at the Chutz and these kids passed with flying colors. They know that their next opportunity to serve as leaders for the younger campers will be…Color War (sometime next week…. we all begin to wonder when??)

That is how the chanichim grow up here: Kaytana, younger bunks (aleph and vav), older bunks (bet, gimmel, daled), Roshei Plugah on the chutz, Color War captains, tzevet, hadracha, Roshei Eidah, Roshei Machal and then…Roshei Moshava. Some of our Roshei Moshava have literally “gone through the whole system” and it is such a transformative experience and source of pride for them and so much nachat for our directors 🙂

We were able to have a number of peulot this afternoon, and it felt good to be back in our routine! Especially those showers!!! Aaaahhhh…..chanichim were running to use their shampoo and soap 😊  Our night tochnit after dinner was an Erev Shira with our camp musicians and slides with words of old and new classic Israeli songs: Yo-Ya, Al Kol Eileh, BaShana haBa’a etc. Such a great wholesome evening of singing, friendship and love for our nation and our homeland. About the Chanukah Raffle

Dear Camp Stone Community,

It is an incredible feeling to reconnect with everyone once again at the beginning of our 2021 camp season.

We are writing to you today, first and foremost, to express tremendous gratitude.

Hakarat HaTov, literally “recognizing the good”, is an important and fundamental principle in our community. We, at Camp Stone, want to express our Hakarat HaTov to everyone receiving this email for your unwavering support, especially this past summer. Whether you provided financial assistance through your donated tuition dollars, participated in Indoor World, or connected with the Camp Stone community in other ways, together we had an incredibly successful, albeit different, summer experience.

There is no substitute for being in Sugar Grove, Pennsylvania, and this summer, B’ezrat Hashem, we will be back at Camp Stone, in person, in full force.

To achieve that goal, we must continue to ensure the financial success of our home away from home that we all know and love so deeply. The logo on top, featuring the slogan “Stone. Forever.” also features a Ner Tamid, an “eternal flame.” The year 1969, etched into the logo, is the year camp was founded. Symbolically, the overall image represents the idea that Camp Stone began many years ago and must endure forever, always burning brightly, and always an integral part of our collective conscience.

On that note, we are excited to announce that our annual Chanukah Campaign will be a raffle taking place over all 8 nights of Chanukah with prizes for both campers and parents/alumni!!
