Wednesday July 8- Color War Day 2
The second day of color was intense – our chanichim were in it to win it!
Shiur on color war focuses on the team names. So while yesterday’s shiur focused on team Irgun, today’s shiur was about team Haganah. The campers grappled with the question of moral standards in the military by looking at different stories in Tanach.
Our schedule, on the second day, included sports activities and swimming races, just like the first day, but then in the afternoon we had a huge camp-wide Chidon in the Indoor Beit Knesset. The questions came from this month’s morning shiurim topics as well as some general Jewish questions. Towards the evening everyone participated in a 90-minute Apache Race that had 44 elements, requiring the help of individuals at some point (race up the climbing wall) and the whole team at other times (the water brigade). Every part of camp was used – each field, archery, the agam, the pool, the ropes course…each team tried its hardest to get to the end first, but it was Team Irgun who made it, with their baton, to the finish line with the win!
Afrer dinner, we all went to Final Presentations in Indoor World. Each team presented a boys’ rikud, a girls’ glow dance, a team song, a skit, a daglanut (flag dance) and the following painted projects: a shelet (team sign on wood), a mechitza, an adirondack chair and a garbage can. It took two hours to get through all of the presentations, and then we had to wait a little while, as they finished calculating points to declare the winner… Finally they were ready to declare the winner…and they told us….. it was…. Team…. Haganah! Congrats to all of our Eidah Daled captains and their hadracha who were a huge source of support and to all the creative and artistic song-writers, painters and choreographers among the campers and staff who did a great job with all the elements of the teams’ final presentations.
After three very busy and packed days, we are looking forward to returning to our regularly scheduled programming tomorrow 🙂 And we can’t wait to see Machal; they will return tomorrow, from Virgina, for a freshly grilled- celebratory BBQ dinner in camp.
