Boker Tov from Camp Stone Color War!

Yesterday we had our first full day of Color War, which will last through tonight!

The teams are Histadrut HaKlalit shel Ovdim (General Organization of Workers), known as “Histadrut” (Purple & Blue) and Sochnut HaYehudit (Jewish Agency), known as “Sochnut” (Red & Yellow), which are in line with our tochnit for the summer. Both institutions were key in creating and developing Medinat Yisrael. The teams get extra points when their cheers and posters are about their teams or key historical personalities related to their teams.

Yesterday began with Kima done by the team captains, who excitedly woke up the younger campers and got them excited for the day of Color War ahead. Instead of Mifkad by Eidah, we had Mifkad at the Shabbat Mifkad site, with competitions regarding attendance, lining up by birthday, and some other fun.

At tfilah, we came together as one Machane to daven to Hashem at this critical time.

At breakfast, Team Tzevet (Team Olympics) was on Toranut. Team Tzevet is not awarded points as part of the Color War competition, but have much fun cheering and putting together their own cheers and presentations.

Shiur proceeded as usual, with points given for participation.

In the morning, we had two sporting competitions by eidah and gender, with points given for winning those competitions and chering.

Before lunch, we had Mincha and Team Marches, where the two teams marched from opposite sides of camp cheering for their teams. They met in the middle, in front of the office and were taught a new cheer by the Roshei Eidah.

In the afternoon, we had Machanayim, which is kind of like a camp-wide game of dodgeball.

The night tochnit was Olympiada, which is really just a bunch of funky competitions. For example, one Eidah Gimmel boy from each team competed to see who could eat more of a bagel hanging from a baseball bat. The Roshei Eidah came up with many creative competitions.

Machal has been in DC this week and the FIDF program is wrapping up tonight.

About the Chanukah Raffle

Dear Camp Stone Community,

It is an incredible feeling to reconnect with everyone once again at the beginning of our 2021 camp season.

We are writing to you today, first and foremost, to express tremendous gratitude.

Hakarat HaTov, literally “recognizing the good”, is an important and fundamental principle in our community. We, at Camp Stone, want to express our Hakarat HaTov to everyone receiving this email for your unwavering support, especially this past summer. Whether you provided financial assistance through your donated tuition dollars, participated in Indoor World, or connected with the Camp Stone community in other ways, together we had an incredibly successful, albeit different, summer experience.

There is no substitute for being in Sugar Grove, Pennsylvania, and this summer, B’ezrat Hashem, we will be back at Camp Stone, in person, in full force.

To achieve that goal, we must continue to ensure the financial success of our home away from home that we all know and love so deeply. The logo on top, featuring the slogan “Stone. Forever.” also features a Ner Tamid, an “eternal flame.” The year 1969, etched into the logo, is the year camp was founded. Symbolically, the overall image represents the idea that Camp Stone began many years ago and must endure forever, always burning brightly, and always an integral part of our collective conscience.

On that note, we are excited to announce that our annual Chanukah Campaign will be a raffle taking place over all 8 nights of Chanukah with prizes for both campers and parents/alumni!!

Please go back to the web page  to purchase raffle tickets and help us achieve 100% participation from our entire camp community!

Looking forward to being in touch with all of you in the near future.

Sincerely,

Yakov & Estee, Co-Directors
