Wednesday August 14/Motzaei Tisha B’Av – 10 Av
Tisha B’Av
Yesterday was a very busy day here.
We started with late wakeup and a long Tisha Bav Shacharit, where we took breaks and changed the format to try to make it more bareable for campers.
All of the chairs and benches were cleared from the Batei Knesset, and we said tfilah without singing anything – which is a very big change here.
We had “Kinot Round Robins”, where each of the Eidot watched Tzevet perform a skit about a Kina and then said the Kina together.
At the end of Kinot, we sang the Kina, “Eli Tziyon” and davened Mincha.
After Mincha, we had a Sicha (more formal small group discussion), led by Roshei Eidah about loss and destructon, where we gave campers the opportunity to share a little bit about their experiences. We also facilitated campers writing letters to Camp Stone alumni who are currently serving in the IDF in Gaza or on the Northern Front. Many of these chayalim were these campers’ counselors in previous summers.
The fast concluded with movies, slow shira, maariv, and brownies.
Motzaei Tisha B’av
At breakfast, the Rosh Pluga (Joey Winer) and co-Rosh Beit Midrash (Eitan Oberlander, known as “O.B.”) got into a fight, which brought the entire camp to Indoor World for a Pluga v.s. Beit Midrash basketball game. Pluga won, but not without a fight from Beit Midrash’s captain, OB, where COLOR WAR was broken out.
The chanichim immediatley proceded to team meetings. The next two days will be full of many types of competitions, including sports, art, torah, dances, and many more. I’ll keep you updated.
