Shavua Tov! Or as we sing here: Sha-sha-shavua tov!!
Shabbat was beautiful, with all the cohorts/capsules davening together in Indoor World, outside as the sun was setting. The scene could not have been more picturesque. The zemirot and dancing were there too, so we could all be together in a covid-safe way. The fresh air and wide space made it all so fun and even more spirited than usual. This Shabbat, all chanichim enjoyed their first meeting with their chavrutot (literally “study partner”). The high staff-camper ratio gives us a unique opportunity, at Machane Stone, for each tzevet member and madrich/a to be assigned 2 campers to learn with, after lunch, Shabbat afternoon. It is a highlight of the week for so many!
This morning in daily shiur, we learned about leaders like Devorah and Gidon from Sefer Shoftim. We discussed what qualities are necessary for effective leaders, like humility and responsibility. Our “real-life Devorah” sat under the tree, near the Shekem shack, all day with “open hours” giving advice and greeting people (Thank you Maayan, Rosh Eidah daled for that!)
Today’s schedule assigned each bunk a peulah to prep for “Bunk Night” which is tonight’s night tochnit. Each bunk learned about their name and then made a wooden sign (a shelet) and a song to represent their group. They will present and perform tonight for their eidah. This is where all the creativity comes out!
Machal had such a fun day pontooning on Lake Chautauqua, and “make-up Machal” arrived and is kicking off their two weeks of hiking and camping tonight! Welcome!
