Shavua Tov!
Shabbat Parshat Korach, our first of 4 very special Camp Stone Shabbatot, was exactly what everyone has been waiting for since last summer: beautiful tefillot full of ruach (spirit) and dancing, great Shabbat food (how does the mitbach cook all of that food? For over 800 people!), fun peulot (activities) and… and inspiring slow shira (singing) at Seudah Shlishit. Plus, this week we had an original story by Rav Adi Krohn, our Rosh Beit Midrash, about King David’s great great great (etc.) grandson whose life paralleled his famous ancestor’s and who becomes mayor of Jerusalem just as the newest building project begins…for the third Beit HaMikdash 🙂
Today was a great start to the week…and to the month: Chodesh Tov everyone 🙂 After a Shacharit with hallel and musaf, we had a fun day of peulot but a “sad” night tochniut where we experienced the destruction of the Beit HaMikdash, walked into exile and heard Megillat Eicha. After just a few minutes (Camp Stone time for 70 years), King Cyrus came to announce that we are allowed to return and build the second Beit haMikdash. As you can see, we are up to the second century CE in Yerushalayim’s history!
Kaytana learned about Yosef and how to be an effective leader (one who does not make others jealous). They had a special peulah where they made dreamcatchers and tie-dyed shirts – all in honor of Yosef 🙂 Tonight, after dinner they celebrated King Pharoah’s birthday, with cake and games and even streamers!
Machal, after enjoying home-cooked food, cozy beds and seeing the rest of camp over Shabbat, began their week with the famous hike in The Gorge.
Looking forward to our full first week in camp!
